Looks like these Garden State girls will never get their 15 minutes of fame. Teen Mom New Jersey, which MTV announced earlier this summer, has reportedly been axed before it even aired. According to The Ashley, the network told the stars of the MTV spinoff that their show is now a no-go.
“Last weekend the girls on the show got calls basically informing them that the show isn’t going to air,” a source told the website. “They didn’t really give them an explanation — just the standard ‘We’re moving in another direction’ line. The girls are really upset because they’ve worked so hard on this project and were really excited for its premiere.”
Several months ago, MTV promised fans that we would meet the cast of Teen Mom New Jersey (which was produced by a separate production company from the team that produces TMOG and TM2) in the fall. While social media pages were made for the docuseries, it looks like we will never actually get to know the NJ-based group of teenage mothers — which reportedly included Kaycie Flores, Devin McFaull, Sunshine (Wallace) Jones, Kaitlyn Marcacci, and Angela Garcia.
MTV has yet to comment on The Ashley’s report. Back in 2015, MTV’s former head of programming, Susanne Daniels, told The TV Page about the network’s intention to reboot the 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom franchises. Many fans believed that Teen Mom New Jersey was the final product of their plan.
“We are retooling 16 and Pregnant. We decided to try something new,” Susanne explained at the time. “16 and Pregnant was stand-alone episodes [in the past] and we are going to use the Teen Mom format for 16 and Pregnant this season.”
