Earlier today, it was reported that Mark Salling died of an apparent suicide. The actor — best known for his role of Noah “Puck” Puckerman on Glee — had recently pled guilty to charges relating to child pornography, and was awaiting his sentencing. In Touch has since obtained the final public photos of Salling, taken in December.
In the photos, he is pictured with his legal team outside the federal court in Downtown LA. At the time, he was entering his plea deal after pleading guilty to posession of child pornography involving a minor. As part of his deal, he faced four to seven years in prison. He also was ordered to register as a sex offender and enter a treatment program; have no contact (both verbal and online) contact with any minors; stay 100 feet from schools, parks, public swimming pool, youth centers, playgrounds, and arcades; and pay $50,000 in restitution to each victim who requested it. He had not been seen publicly following the Dec. 17, 2017 courthouse appearance.
Though his passing hasn’t been confirmed, TMZ reports that authorities went to his house for a welfare check and were somehow led to a baseball field near his death where his body was allegedly recovered after he reportedly hanged himself. According to the outlet, a relative of the convicted sex offender went to the police station in the early hours of the morning today, Jan. 30, to report the controversial actor as a missing person. Additionally, sources involved with the law enforcement say that they aren’t yet ruling out foul play as a cause of death, though it appears he took his own life.
Since his initial arrest in 2015, Salling remained largely out of the spotlight. Most of his public appearances were made at the courthouse.
The disgraced actor was 35. He is survived by his father, John.
