Yikes. Brandon Putman, who was introduced to TLC fans last year on Season 1 of his family’s show Meet the Putmans, pleaded not guilty to a felony gun charges on Thursday.
“We look forward to telling our side of the story at the appropriate time,” Brandon’s lawyer, Brian Lennon told Radar Online.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives had been following Brandon’s case since November 2017 when he entered a machine shop in Elkton, MI and asked the owner to make 10 copies of a metal item. The shop owner grew suspicious of the item and he later realized that it was a firearm component that is used to convert the AR-15 into a fully automatic assault rifle, and he called ATF agents after Brandon left his shop.
“I believe that Brandon Putman likely acquired additional M16 machine gun parts to assist in the conversion to fully automatic,” Stephen Ross, ATF special agent, wrote in federal court documents. But they were unable to comment on the details of Brandon’s arrest.
“ATF agents conducted law enforcement activity in the Pigeon, Michigan and Cass City area today,” ATF spokeswoman Ronnie Dahl said in a statement. “At this time, we can not comment on the scope of the investigation.”
Brandon, 31, is one of 26 family members living under the same roof. He faced charges of illegally possessing a machine gun, receipt or possession of a firearm unregistered with the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, and transfer of a firearm, according to an affidavit obtained by Radar Online. The gun charge carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine.
