A 25-year-old woman who went missing last month was found alive after surviving a horrifying stint in the woods. Photos have now surfaced of Alabama student Lisa Theris, and she’s nearly unrecognizable. After a driver spotted her naked on the side of a highway, she’s now recovering from bruises, scratches, bites, and a dramatic 50-pound weight loss.
Judy Garner was driving along Highway 82 when she first saw Lisa, whom she initially mistook for a deer. After realizing what she was looking at, she pulled over on the side of the road. “I started shaking. I was crying, I was scared, and I didn’t know what to do,” Judy said. “So I went over to her and asked her if she would stay there while I get water out of my van. She stayed, and I called 911 and told them I had found a girl on the road.” The Louisville, AL native had been missing since July 18 and Judy added, “I don’t think she could have made it much longer.”

Lisa survived on berries and muddy water after she reportedly ran away from two men who were trying to coerce her into helping them with a robbery in Midland. The men — Manley Davis and Randall Oswald — stole $40,000 worth of items at a hunting lodge and have been charged with theft. “She’s not familiar with this area, and apparently on the night she ran, she went into the woods at night and got lost,” Sheriff Raymond Rodgers said.
Today, she’s now back home recovering with her family. Police are letting her heal before questioning her further. “We didn’t ask her too many questions,” Sheriff Rodgers said. “We want to make sure her health is good so we got her on to the hospital. We did not interrogate her at that time.” However, she seems to be in good spirits. Lisa’s brother told WTVY that his sister is “standing strong and full of jokes as ever. The next few weeks will be rough, but she’s handling it all like a trooper.”
