Fans of the Lifetime reality series Little Women: LA have been seriously concerned for Tonya Banks and her health — and many have been wondering, what happened to Tonya on Little Women: LA?
It turns out Tonya was battling Bell’s palsy, which according to WebMD “is a paralysis or weakness of the muscles on one side of your face.” The reality star previously blamed her condition on stress and was seen wearing an eye patch. She said in a previous episode that the condition was “keeping her isolated,” though she joined Elena Gant for a cryotherapy session thinking that might help.

She told her co-star Terra Jolé on last night’s episode that she was doing better.
Those suffering from Bell’s palsy will find it difficult to close their eye and may also experience ear pain, drooling, difficulty to taste, and sensitivity to sound. The condition has been linked to several viruses such as herpes in the past, though the actual cause is unknown. It is also most common in pregnant women going through their third trimester, though it can impact anyone at any time.

Bell’s palsy can be treated with steroids and it takes between one and two months to make a full recovery.
However, Tonya still made it a point to visit Terra after her surgery regardless of her condition — and gave her some tough love after she received backlash from her cast mates regarding Dancing With the Stars.
“It was taking away from your life, it was taking away from your health, it was taking away from your kids, it was taking away from your husband,” she explained.
These two are not the only ones dealing with medical woes this season. Christy McGinity Gibel also revealed that she suffered a stroke after undergoing a major spinal surgery.
