Bumps In Nail Polish, It Often Bubbles, What Causes This? How To Avoid Bubbles In Your Nail Polish Finish

I’m really new to nail polish. I just painted my nails for the first time two months ago and I love having pretty nails! I had no problems at first, but the last 4 times I have done my nails they dry bumpy.

All my nails look just like that. I use OPI and China Glaze polish. It keeps happening with both brands and different colors.

I tried using thinner coats of polish, thicker coats, and even brushing some acetone on top of my nails before painting them. Nothing fixes this.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I love how pretty painting my nails makes me feel, but it is so frustrating having them come out bumpy like this. They look nice and smooth while drying but then an hour or two later this happens.

This happens to me sometimes if I'm not patient in letting my nails dry between each coat. The air quality in my house can do weird things.

That may be my problem. I try to let them dry but maybe they aren’t completely dry. I’ll redo them tonight and really take my time and see if I get better results!

This also happens when you shake the bottle just before using it. Shaking creates air bubbles in the polish.

Try rolling the polish bottle between your hands or if the polish is not separated, try not shaking it at all.

Maybe the polish is old/expired? Is the consistency of the polish very thick, or have you tired to thin it out with nail polish remover before?

The one in the picture was just bought 2 days ago. I’ll have to check my others. I don’t think its too thick, but I could try thinning it out. How much remover should I add?
