After a brief moment to reminisce over the past weekend of Labor Day festivities, it’s time to get right back into the swing of things with New York Fashion Week just days away. So with no time to waste, I’ve been trying to plot the next week of outfit pairings. And since the temperature showing no signs of dropping, I’m going to make every effort to blend seasonal and weather appropriate options. But, how? Fabric and palette selection is key. So with that being said, I’m going to keep it natural with light with blush tones and neutrals.
I’m not the only one blushing for varying shades of nudes this season, as designers are also seeking minimalist options for Pre-fall and Fall 2016. At The Row, a chic favorite from season to season, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have found a way to make beige tones timeless and oh so necessary. While centering the collection on fine fabrics and top notch tailoring, each piece translated an effortlessness to be envied with soft monochromatic hues reigning supreme. Meanwhile, Phoebe Philo at Céline provided a collection of slightly more colorful Fall must-haves. Soft multi-pleats and buttery silk layers dominated many of her runway looks which paired well with trendy yet retro fannypack-esque belts that you can’t help but love.
With the ‘Fashion New Year’ upon us, there are an abundance of new arrivals worth shopping in store and online. YAY! So I’ve rounded up a few of my faves, starting with the Iro “Han” leather jacket which I could totally live in. The pale rosy tint creates a new neutral that’s an easy combo of light and cool. I’m also really into the Rick Owens stretch bodysuit and Zimmerman metallic silk blend top which make easy toppers for high-waisted bottoms. Not to mention notable add ons like the Ellery “Maxime” scarf and Valentino Rockstud velvet flat to freshen up your weekly staples.
When it comes to wardrobe planning, sometimes simpler really is better. So it’s no surprise that my inner minimalist is resurfacing after a Summer of prints and pattern play. Blush tones and neutral shades bring an ease and effortlessness to almost any ensemble… which is exactly the vibe you’d like to portray while jetting from show to show.
