Milan Fashion Week just wrapped and this season Milan has its groove back in all its sartorial goodness and ostentatious luxe. The collections from Versace, Cavalli, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Pucci, and Fendi truly seemed to be celebrating Italian fashion. The runways appeared fun and full of candy colors, exotic prints, embroidery and embellishments to the max. More than anyone else, Gucci is having its moment in the sun. With new creative director Alessandro Michele, he is driving this brand in a quirky and cool direction while remaining rooted in the historical Gucci glamour. Hands down, the most talked about collection of the week. Personally, I loved Salvatore Ferragamo. The collection appeared so fresh and feminine. Not usually the style I love, but the pleats and ruching and ribbons felt very right. Maxi, pleated capes too! And tried and true works for Marni, Missoni, Armani, Jil Sander, and Etro – props to these brands for staying true with their roots.
While trends were hard to nail down, everyone seemed to be going in their own direction, a few popped up: feminine dressing, sheer netting, embellishments galore, clogs, oversize accessories, red, florals. See, told ya it was all over the place. The good news? You really can’t go wrong come Spring, and you’ll still be on trend.
Now, on to Paree!
