Isn’t this Free People jacket awesome?

Is this Free People color-blocked jacket awesome or have I lost my mind? I admit it, occasionally I shop at Free People. It’s parent company is Urban Outfitters, and I although I understand Free People is in the same fast fashion category as Zara and H&M, it feels different. This is a brand I have been wearing for years during different phases in my life. You can experiment with your style easily given the multiple personalities one can find within the Free People brand. Over the last ten years, during each phase, something from Free People found its way into my wardrobe. Now it’s mostly t-shirts and comfy pants, but while I was pregnant their “maternity” clothes filled a real void for me. And the baggy jumpsuitsleggings, and cozy sweaters weren’t a huge investment. Like most fast fashion brands, Free People takes inspiration from the runways, but instead of blatant copying and ripping off I feel like their designers are a bit more original with their application of trends. Dark florals, velvet, flared pants, knitwear are featured in Free People’s fall collection, but with the signature bohemian Free People slant. German model Veronika Heilbrunner is featured in a recent ad campaign for the brand and her signature sneakers and dresses look, feel right at home on the pages of Free People’s catalog. Super smart branding from the company to appeal to the fashion crowd with someone like Heilbrunner. Here are a few pieces I wouldn’t mind rounding out the summer:

Carmen straw tote

Show Off Your Stripes pullover

Post Surf set

The Minx Velvet flare

Sunshine Slope pullover

Oh These Balloon pants

Lakehouse button down top

Heathered crew socks

Sk8-Hi Slim hi top sneakers

Topanga turtleneck
