This is not a post about gold just because it’s the holidays, even though it’s the perfect time of year to incorporate the color into your wardrobe with New Year’s right around the corner. I treat gold as a neutral. And by this I mean I wear it the same way I would black, gray, or navy. (Some of you might not consider navy a neutral, but you definitely should.) As you know, neutrals ground an outfit, and make it more modern. They allow you to mix in non-matching traditional prints with a pair of black heels or a really gorgeous caftan worn under a navy silk trench. Gold is like the more adventurous and thrill seeking younger sister to camel or beige. It offers more depth and I swear, makes you appear more interesting. Now I’m not suggesting you go out and purchase a gold gown, but rather, try gold for everyday with a pair of gold sneakers (like the Rochas pair below which I may or may not own…) or a not so shiny gold pant, and gold leather if you’re really committing.
