My BFF and I braved the Barneys sale live today. And as usual, it’s good, early enough for multiple sizes and not too picked over yet. I’m a hundred weeks pregnant so I only bought these but my friend found the greatest dress of all time. It was all by its lonesome hanging on a rack near the register. In all its Dolce & Gabbana fabulousness the polka dots called to us and we were mesmerized. It was my friend’s size and when she put it on neither of us were prepared for the immediate “ohmygod.” It was the perfect dress. It’s slightly A-line, but short enough with a fluted hemline to be more than another silk dress. The epitome of versatile: heels or flats will dress it up or down. Fancy, platform heels can take you out out in the dress, and the polka dots keep it sweet enough for say, a baby shower. Sneakers can take you to a flea market in Palm Springs, a kitten mule is chic enough to stroll Paris shops on a summer day, or a lace-up sandal can take you to a romantic dinner when you’re on the Amalfi Coast. (I’m clearly in vacation mode.) The black and white polka dots keep it classic enough for it to be stylish for years. The sort of dress your daughter will be begging for before you’re ready to give it up. I know it’s not cheap, but if you do a price-per-wear on a dress you will have forever – one can justify. Sadly, the dress is not on Barneys website any longer, and not available at the store. The only place I can find it is here. It’s truly one-of-a-kind.
