The finale for couture week was definitely the Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana shows. They are spectacles, sights to behold, and the clothes are so dramatic.
Valentino (first 4 looks): Anyone lucky enough to wear something from Valentino – is just that, lucky. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli were inspired by Shakespeare and painter, Marc Chagall – in short, inspired by love and romance. Someone please hold these looks for: Dakota Johnson, Sienna Miller, and dare I suggest Jennifer Lawrence – even though she’s married to Dior – she would look killer in the one-shoulder, red dress. And please, Rosamund Pike, wear the gold leaf-embellished gown.
Dolce & Gabbana (last 4 looks): The Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda fashion show for next season was a 4-day event. And it did not disappoint the brand’s most ardent supporters in attendance or those following online. The pair had spent a year landscaping the property in anticipation of these evenings and for the show the hilltop had been transformed into the set of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Theatrics for this duo knows no bounds. Gowns adorned with tulle, crystals, florals, ostrich and peacock feathers, fur – no embellishment spared to tell their very luxe and one-of-a-kind story. When I learned that Kylie Minogue performed during the weekend, I was disappointed because she was who I imagined able to wear these looks. Her and Madonna, of course.
